Creativity

What is it to be creative?

Creativity is a talent, not just a gift; you are not just lucky or just clever.... it is a responsibility -- twofold in that you have a duty to develop and explore your aptitude to the fullest, and second, that you must share your experience, insight and intelligence with others.

To be creative is to realise that others don’t necessarily have your ability or see the world as you do.

To be creative is to be innovative, to explore, to experiment, not to accept the world as finite or unyielding.

To be creative is to think ‘outside the square’ but also to stretch the boundaries within.

To be creative requires self discipline and self motivation.

To be creative is sometimes to be apprehensive and lonely. You have to be prepared to be singular and individual. Exploring new ideas can also be risky …heaven forbid … you may exhaust your perceived pool of imaginative flight …. !

To be creative is to treat failure as an experience and then to find a new path. You never know what will be beyond your next thought, but each new thought or idea may lead to another discovery.

Necessity, fancy and adventure stir the creative imagination.

To be the guardian of a creative spirit, be it youthful or mature, can be daunting. If you are charged with this responsibility, encourage and seek guidance and mentors ….. truly creative people like to share their talents, inspiration, imagination and innovation.

From Inspirations newsletter April 28th 2018

‘Inspiration comes in many ways and from many sources but what exactly is it?

There does seem to be something truly mysterious about inspiration; it cannot be controlled, doesn’t come just because you need it, cannot be earned or bought but leaves the inspired with an incredible sense of pleasure and wellbeing. It is almost like some enchanted gift!

The most magical thing about inspiration must be its ability to change not just the thinking of one individual but to have a flow-on that has a positive effect on many others. Perhaps the greatest gift is not just to be inspired but to have the ability to inspire others!’
